
New industry survey calls on people working across transport, postal and warehousing to have their say on mental health
Australia’s transport, postal and warehousing industry is being urged to take part in a new national survey aimed at strengthening mental health and wellbeing across one of the country’s most essential yet under-pressure sectors.
Healthy Heads in Trucks & Sheds (Healthy Heads) in partnership with SuperFriend, and supported by GT Insurance, has launched an industry-specific Thriving Workplace Index (TWI) survey that aims to capture the real experiences of people working across the supply chain.
The initiative builds on SuperFriend’s Indicators of a Thriving Workplace data, in which transport and logistics is consistently ranked the lowest of 19 industries for mental health and wellbeing. This result is driven by heavy workloads, long hours, isolation, unclear roles, higher exposure to trauma, and limited management support, all of which contribute to stress, burnout, and high rates of turnover.
In October 2025, Healthy Heads and SuperFriend, supported by Pickles and GT Insurance, hosted an Industry Think Tank that brought together leaders, wellbeing experts and people working in frontline industry roles to share lived experience and identify practical, people-first solutions. The session concluded with a clear call for stronger data, improved connection, capable leadership, and tailored mental health support.
The Thriving Workplace Index survey is the next step in bringing these requests to life, giving people across the sector a direct voice to shape future programs, policy, and investment.
Dr Natalie Flatt, Chief Mental Health Advisor at SuperFriend, said the survey is about listening and turning insights into action.
“The transport, postal and warehousing sector operates in demanding conditions, with many different challenges, both physical and mental,” Dr Flatt said. “By gathering further insights, we can better understand what’s working, what’s not, and develop targeted, evidence-based solutions.”
GT Insurance said its support reflects the close link between mental health, safety, and industry sustainability.

The Thriving Workplace Index survey is now open to people across the transport, postal and warehousing sector, with Healthy Heads calling for industry-wide participation.
“This is a chance for everyone to have their say, including drivers, business owners, people working in sheds, supervisors and leadership,” said Melissa Weller, General Manager at Healthy Heads. “The survey takes around seven minutes, can be accessed via a link or QR code, and will be heavily promoted over the coming months.”
