The Healthy Heads Story
Healthy Heads in Trucks & Sheds is a registered not-for-profit foundation that provides a national approach to improving mental health and physical wellbeing for people working in road transport, warehousing and logistics.
Launched in August 2020, Healthy Heads was established by Australia Post, Coles, Linfox, Toll, Ron Finemore Transport, Woolworths and Qube to drive the changes to the whole industry that these businesses want to see.
Our work focuses on providing industry with tools, resources and programs to allow businesses of all sizes to create psychologically safe, healthy working environments and thriving individuals.
Our Vision
To equip everyone in the transport and logistics industry with what they need to support their mental health and physical wellbeing, and to ensure these needs are recognised as essential to a thriving, future-ready workforce.
Industry Need
The transport, warehousing and logistics industries face unique challenges that can impact the mental health of these workforces. Long hours, isolation, and high-pressure environments contribute to heightened stress and mental health concerns. There is a pressing need for industry-specific mental health support and interventions to address these issues and promote a culture of wellbeing and safety.
In Superfriend’s 2023 Indicators of a Thriving Workplace report, the transport and logistics sector was determined to be the lowest ranked industry in Australia in terms of workplace mental health and wellbeing (19 out of 19), with a thriving index score considerably below the national average at 65 out of 100.
This need led to the establishment of Healthy Heads, to drive a meaningful change against these statistics.
Our Solution
In the absence of a national effort to tackle mental health in transport, warehousing and logistics,, leading road transport and logistics operators Woolworths, Coles, Linfox, Toll, Qube, Australia Post and Ron Finemore Transport combined as Founding Members to fund and lead the establishment of the Healthy Heads in Trucks & Sheds Foundation (Healthy Heads) which was officially launched in August 2020.
In a world-first, Healthy Heads, a registered not-for-profit, was established for the benefit of the entire supply chain industry, being open and accessible to all in the sector.
Our Approach
In response to a critical need, Healthy Heads has developed targeted solutions to support the mental health and wellbeing of those in the logistics sector. Our approach includes educational programs, support resources, and industry-specific wellness initiatives. By providing these tailored tools and fostering a community of support, we aim to transform the sector into a healthier workplace for all, in which individuals can thrive.
Taking a national, holistic approach, at Healthy Heads we see the solution to the sobering statistics in our sector as being one of collaboration and leadership at all levels.
